The Minister
Steve Wallis was born in York in 1954. Brought up in York, London and the Medway Towns he left school aged 15 and became a labourer. After a variety of jobs he went to the University of Greenwich in 1984 where he took a BA in Theological Studies.
On completion of his degree he was ordained at Strood Gospel Mission Church and was inducted to the pastorate of Strood Evangelical Church where he remained for the next 12 years. During his time in the ministry at Strood he was active in the local community serving as the Chair of Governors of a local Primary School and was an elected member of Rochester City Council. On the abolition of Rochester Council Steve became the Deputy Leader of the newly created Medway Unitary Authority.
On leaving the pastorate he took a job with Langley House Trust, a Christian Charity working with ex-offenders. In his spare time he served as associate pastor of Gillingham United Reformed Church. In 2002 Langley House Trust appointed him as the manager of a drug rehabilitation centre in Coventry and he moved to Atherstone.
Steve Wallis has been a member of Polesworth Baptist Church since 2002 and is currently undertaking an MA in applied Theology at Bristol Baptist College.Steve has been married to Vanessa for 32 years and they have a teenage son Steven.
